 The Chandra Business Group was started by Seth Shivcharanlalji in 1932 with a Hotel, Bombay Chandra Bhavan. Thereafter, he started boarding and lodging on S.J.P Road in 1958 under the name Chandra Bhavan Boarding & Lodging. On this foundation, his 3 sons S. Purushotham Das, S. Chandra Prakash & S. Anil Kumar, Expanded the business further.

Chandra Bhavan Boarding and Lodging was established in the year 1958. The objective of this boarding house with 50 rooms cum restaurant was to provide affordable accommodation for the common visitors of Bangalore.
Hotel Chandra Vihar, established in the year 1969, was lodging with 50 rooms. It marked the expansion of the Chandra Business Group
Chandra Sales, established in 1975, are the dealers for all leading brands in plumbing and Sanitary materials like Parryware, Crabtree, ARK, Jal, Perk, Nirali Stainless Steel Kitchen sinks etc.
Chandra Engineering Works (1978), Badami Engineering Works (1980), Chandra Fabricators (1982) and Chamundi Industries (1982) were established as medium engineering units. These are engaged in manufacturing components, SPM Bases and high precision fixtures for OEMs like MICO, Ingersoll-Rand, Titan Wathces, Larsen and Toubro among others.
Chandra Hardware Agencies, established in 1988, are the dealers for all premium brands of Indian and Imported architectural builders hardware fittings. Namely, Blum, Hafele, Poonam, Sentry, Soham, Pag, Ariston, etc., with two of the largest retail showrooms in Bangalore.
Sri Lakshmi Industries was established in the year 1989. This company is a manufacturer of quality Polymer Plastic Covers and Rolls.
Chandra Lamp Shades came into existence in 1992. It is a leading distributor of Asian Raymold Lighting for the Karnataka State. It also deals in Imported & Indian Chandeliers, Wall Brackets, Street Lights, Path way Lights, Garden Lights, Under Water Lights, Fountain Lights, All Types of Office, Showroom Lights and Manufacturers of Architectural Design fittings. A branch of Chandra Hardware and Lamp Shades was established in 2004.
South India Agencies established in 1993, is a wholesale distributor firm for all Indian and imported architectural builders hardware.
V C Source Marketing established in 2004, holds Franchisee Dealership and Distributorship for Nuplus Kitchen Cabinets and Accessories.
The Chandra Business Group is a tribute to the one man, who started it all, Seth Shivcharanlalji, who despite great hardships became a success in alien environment. To his future generations he did not bequeath wealth but a desire to succeed.
